I hold a PhD in Sustainability Education, lead the Community Ecology Institute, and teach graduate courses. My research focuses on the importance of the human connection with the natural environment for personal, societal, and environmental well-being.
I recently published my first book, "Growing an Edible Landscape". My other writing is focused on academic articles and professional reports on issues related to the environment and well-being. I have worked as an environmental consultant for more than 13 years and founded a non-profit organization in 2016.
I am a passionate advocate for my social and ecological community. I created Columbia Families in Nature to connect local families with one another and with nearby natural areas and in doing so a wonder-full community has emerged that turned into The Community Ecology Institute.
